At Goodwinds Composites we provide high quality, custom wrapped composite tubes and rods for a wide range of applications. Through the use of resin pre-impregnated cloth materials, such as carbon fiber, fiberglass, and kevlar, and a mandrel forming process, our tubes are wrapped under tension and then specially cured in ovens to ensure long-lasting performance. Our roll-wrapping process can handle tubes with outside diameters as large as 2", inside diameters as large as 1-7/8", and lengths up to 9'. From wood dowels to reinforced rods, we understand how to wrap tubing with unidirectional fiber, twill weave, high modulus carbon fabric, and mixed fiberglass/carbon configurations.
Wrapped composite tubes are widely used for drones, ski poles, drive shafts, and robotic arms. We regularly build custom mandrels according to exact specifications in order to satisfy any dimensional requirement for a tube or rod. We can adjust stiffness and wall thickness characteristics through custom fabric layups. Our facility is equipped to support practically any production capacity, from low volume runs to blanket orders. Using state of the art manufacturing methods, our wrapped composite tubes provide an economical choice for small-sized batch orders as well as pre-production samples. In addition, we're able to offer secondary services along each phase of the manufacturing process including center-less grinding, chamfering, drilling, milling, and sanding. All of our projects are quoted on a job by job basis and we're always ready to accommodate either rush or emergency situations.
Our entire organization utilizes lean methodologies to continuously enhance efficiency across all departments. We've served a variety of industries nationwide with diligent service and consistent quality. Our work is performed in compliance with industry standards, and we strive to help our customers gain a competitive edge in their market. Micro CarbonSince 2008, Goodwinds Composites has offered solid carbon rods that are both affordable and extremely durable for demanding environments. Using the finest carbon fiber and composite materials available, we fabricate solid carbon rods of up to 5,000' in continuous length. Round carbon rods are available in a variety of diameters as small as 0.020” and as large as 0.750", while flat carbon rods are available as small as 0.105" x 0.035" to 0.787" x 0.196".
Goodwinds Composites has no minimum orders, so our solid round and flat carbon rods are excellent for experimentation and prototyping. We will custom cut to a specified length within 0.005" on our state of the art composite saws.
In order to support the customer across all phases of the manufacturing process, we offer secondary services such as milling, drilling, grinding, chamfering, and sanding. Our entire staff, from machinist to CEO, adheres to a Kaizen workplace philosophy and takes part in process improvement training. We treat every project, regardless of size, with the same degree of workmanship and attention to quality. Every job undergoes an extensive quality control process prior to shipment.
We field trained composite engineers that strive for quality and go out of their way to find a solution that best fits the customer's application needs. We're able to satisfy both retail and wholesale program requirements, supporting either bulk jobs or small, one-time orders.

At Goodwinds, our pultruded carbon tubes are made from high-quality materials that are low cost and feature superior longitudinal stiffness. We can provide both standard and custom lengths with diameters as small as 0.125" and as large as 0.750" and a cut tolerance of 0.005". Our tubes are manufactured with carbon fibers that are unidirectionally oriented, resulting in enhanced mechanical characteristics. They feature a minimum tensile strength of 240 ksi, tensile modulus of 240 ksi, and shear strength of 6 ksi. Made from a bisphenol epoxy vinyl ester material matrix, each tube is designed and manufactured to serve a wide range of applications.
Since 2008, we've been supporting retail and wholesale customers with custom projects as well as bulk inventory programs. We have the capacity to handle virtually any production tempo, from prototyping to high volume runs. We field a knowledgeable team of composite engineers who can leverage years of experience in order to provide the best solution possible. As a one-stop shop, we work across all phases of manufacturing, supporting projects with secondary services such as custom precision cutting, chamfering, center-less grinding, drilling, sanding, and milling.
We carry an extensive line of tube sizes and profiles in-house, custom cut according to exact specifications. We are a Lean organization with a workforce that believes in organizational efficiency, continuously refining methods to ensure streamlined production. In addition, we're geared to handle both emergency and rush services.

With a superior strength to weight ratio, Goodwinds filament wound epoxy tubes exhibit exceptional structural properties when subjected to both longitudinal and transversal loads. There's zero yield until ultimate failure, resulting in no permanent elastic deformation. Our fiberglass tubes offer excellent electrical and thermal insulation. When operating in extremely cold environments, they're able to resist cracking and help make the installation process easier. In addition, they're corrosion resistant and capable of performing in challenging industrial environments.
Goodwinds Composites is a one-stop shop that's capable of supporting each project with an array of secondary services such as precision custom cutting, milling, sanding, drilling, chamfering, and centerless grinding. We practice lean manufacturing methods, analyzing material requirements on every job and finding ways to lower costs. Our staff believes in continuous improvement within the workplace, taking part in ongoing training that helps to increase our process efficiency. All of our projects are quoted on a job by job basis, and we're equipped to offer both rush and emergency services when requested. We offer knowledgeable, responsive customer service that's backed by years of experience in filament wound fiberglass tubes and rods. At Goodwinds, we operate a fully equipped CNC machining department dedicated exclusively to cutting, turning, milling, drilling, and grinding composite materials. We are a leading technical authority on all aspects of composite machining and capable of upholding close dimensional tolerances when processing carbon fiber, graphite, and fiberglass rods and tubes.
With our extensive background in composites machining, we have the hands-on experience necessary for choosing the most appropriate cutting tools for these abrasive materials. Our machining operators pay careful attention to tool machining time and sharpness to ensure consistent cutting performance. We also know how to obtain workholding solutions for small diameter rods and tubes, set machining speeds based on the material makeup, and drill through composites without separating the fiber layers.
Specifically, our capabilities include a full line of milling operations such as slotting, notching, and hole drilling in tubes and rods. We custom cut tubes and rod into specific lengths at tolerances to ±0.005", and we carry out machining and lathe work for end forming, such as chamfering and tapering. Our custom centerless grinder is set up specifically for processing composite rods and tubes measuring up to 72.0" in length with diameters in the 0.040" to 1.0" range. We offer grinding tolerances to 0.0005" and surface finishes that range from smooth to slightly roughed or coarse finishes perfect for bonding.
As a leading manufacturer of composite rod and tube, we have an abundance of standard sizes in stock ready for machining. We also machine customer-supplied materials.
